Psilocybin & Psychedelic Assisted Therapy in Connecticut

Welcome. You’re here because you’re looking for a change. Not just any change— you’re here because you seek the radical transformation of psychedelic medicine, a revolution in how you view yourself and your place in the world.

At Psychedelic Passage, we believe that the transformation of consciousness is a fundamental human right. We’re passionate about bringing the healing potential of psychedelics to as many people as we can, and this article is dedicated to informing you about how you can have a safe, supported psychedelic experience right here in the Constitution State.

As of right now, the kind of psychedelic-assisted therapy being tested in clinical trials is not available to the public. Therapists rely on a license from their state government to practice emotional healing work. Because psychedelics are still illegal in every state except Oregon, therapists who use them with patients risk losing their license.

However, therapeutic psychedelic experiences are still possible. Therapeutic simply means “to have a beneficial effect on the body or mind.” A practitioner skilled with psychedelics can provide a psychedelic experience and call it therapeutic without the same legal repercussions as a licensed therapist.

Currently, there is no regulation around who can call themselves a psychedelic practitioner, so we take qualifying for the role very seriously. All of our facilitators have extensive backgrounds with a wide variety of psychedelics, and more than anything, we hold a very high standard of integrity.

Safety is our number one priority, we consistently train with mentors, and we are honest about our limitations. If we don’t think that we’re a good fit for you, we’re more than happy to suggest other facilitators more in resonance with your needs. We’re glad you’re here. Now let’s get into it.

Benefits of Having a Therapeutic Psychedelic Experience

The benefits of psychedelics are incredible. In just one to three sessions with MDMA, people can heal from treatment-resistant PTSD. Psilocybin, the active compound in “magic” mushrooms, is being proven to rival the efficacy of pharmaceutical antidepressants— without the terrible side effects. And LSD, long regarded as the bane of hippie culture, has been shown to reduce anxiety and treat alcoholism.

In addition to being psychological medicines, psychedelics are also known as “entheogens.” Entheogen means “creating the divine within” and describes the potential that psychedelics have to induce life-changing mystical experiences.

Regardless of your religious background, having a direct experience of the vast, interconnected intelligence that runs through the universe changes you. Those who have these experiences of oneness are more likely to be happier than those who do not.

But let’s say you’re psychologically healthy and spiritually connected. Psychedelics are also used to optimize work performance and elevate impact. Typically through the practice of microdosing, or taking a small amount of a substance several times a week, people can enhance their creativity, increase their focus, or get into flow more easily.

The Current Legislation on Psychedelics in Connecticut

On June 7, 2021, Governor Lamont signed SB 1083 into law. This bill called for a “workgroup” to study the effects of psilocybin on mental and emotional health under the supervision of a health care provider.

Similar to legislation passed in Texas and Pennsylvania, DB 1083 represents a pivotal shift in how state law views psychedelics. It’s not decriminalization, but the hope is that the findings of the workgroup, which contains researchers from the Yale School of Medicine, will be positive enough to open the door for more comprehensive legislation.

There are also several psychedelic groups all across Connecticut, indicating growing grassroots movement towards reform. As more people become exposed to the benefits of psychedelics, it’s possible the country might experience a snowball effect of legislation and systems to support wide-reaching transformation.

Your Legal Options for Therapeutic Psychedelic Experiences in Connecticut

In Connecticut, you have two options for a therapeutic psychedelic experience: ketamine clinics and guided psychedelic journeys.

It’s important to note that if you do decide to pursue a guided psychedelic journey, you are responsible for sourcing your own medicine. If you have questions or concerns about this process, check out our resources page for more information.

1. Ketamine Clinics

Until conventional psychedelics like psilocybin and ayahuasca are widely legalized, ketamine is the only available substance to use in psychedelic-assisted therapy. It can help with many different mental health conditions, but it is most well known for rapidly treating depression.

Ketamine clinics will usually administer the medicine via an IV, but some will offer oral lozenges. While many clinics have therapists on-staff, the degree to which that therapist will involved can vary. Ketamine, like conventional psychedelics, can elicit very intense experiences. For this reason, you’ll want to make sure that you have sufficient support before and after your session.

Check out our article on how to find a high quality ketamine clinic near you. If you struggle to find a clinic that supports you, consider a psychedelic integration specialist or seek out a therapist of your own who is knowledgeable of psychedelics.

2. Guided Psychedelic Journeys with Psychedelic Passage

No matter where you live in Connecticut, if we can physically get to you, we will sit for you. Our treatment programs are usually five weeks long. This is because we want to offer thorough, comprehensive support. In addition to the ceremony itself, you’ll receive two virtual preparation sessions beforehand and two virtual integration sessions afterwards.

Most of our clients elect to use psilocybin mushrooms, but all of our facilitators are experienced in many psychedelic medicines, including LSD, MDMA, mescaline, and DMT. If you would like to sit with cannabis, we can do that as well.

If you feel like you’re not ready for a full dose journey, we can coach you in a microdosing protocol. We’ll guide you through dosage, intention setting, and best practices to ground your experiences.

Ready to Take the Next Step in Your Healing Journey?

With all the hype, it’s easy to mistake psychedelics as panaceas. But they don’t fix anything. In some ways, “medicine” is a misnomer, because what psychedelics actually do is open you up.

Beneath all of your conditioning, negative self-talk, and history of trauma, there is a self that is pure, loving, and perfect. Psychedelics open you up to that self. They allow you to see what you’ve always been: completely, utterly whole.

If you’ve made it this far, and you feel ready to take the next steps on your psychedelic healing journey, then book a consultation call with us. We’d be stoked to hear from you.
