Psilocybin & Psychedelic Assisted Therapy in Wyoming

With Wyoming bordering Colorado, you would think that some of the Greenies’ progressive drug reform policies would float over to the Equality State. As of right now, laws are pretty strict in Wyoming. However, with the psychedelic renaissance in full swing throughout the country, it’s more possible than ever to have a safe, supported psychedelic experience.

The psychedelic-assisted therapy often reported in the news is currently only available in clinical trials. While you can sign up for a trial, psychedelics in conjunction with a therapist is a form of healing that is still several years away.

The reason is because therapists get their license to practice from their state government, which means that they must follow the rules of the government. Because psychedelics remain illegal in every state except Oregon, a therapist will lose their license if they use psychedelics in their practice.

However, a therapeutic psychedelic experience is different. Therapeutic simply means “to have a beneficial effect on the mind or body.” A practitioner who is trained in the healing arts can provide a psychedelic experience and call it therapeutic without the same legal repercussions as a licensed therapist.

But what qualifies a practitioner if not a license? At Psychedelic Passage, we take this question seriously. All of our facilitators, in addition to having extensive backgrounds with psychedelics, prioritize safety and work with mentors.

Personal integrity is our highest value— if a facilitator doesn’t feel like a good fit for you, they will happily recommend someone else more in resonance with your needs. In this article, we’ll be going over the legal landscape of psychedelics in Wyoming and how you can experience the power of these medicines in your area.

Benefits of Having a Therapeutic Psychedelic Experience

A therapeutic psychedelic experience can completely change someone’s life. MDMA, or ecstasy, is projected to become a legal treatment for PTSD by 2023 for its ability to eliminate the disorder in just one or two sessions. Psilocybin, the primary chemical in “magic” mushrooms, can heal depression in a single ceremony. What’s more, it doesn’t cause the debilitating side effects that pharmaceutical antidepressants do.

There are spiritual benefits as well. Even if you are psychologically healthy, our species faces a collective issue of disconnection— disconnection from the earth, from each other, and from our innermost selves. Psychedelics can elicit mystical experiences that make you feel like you are one with the world, and people who experience this oneness are more likely to be happier than those who don’t.

Psychedelics can also optimize performance. There are retreats all over the world that help transform entrepreneurs into more heart-centered leaders. People also microdose psychedelics, which involves taking small amounts of a substance several times a week. Across all disciplines, from business to teaching to mothering, people are microdosing to enhance creativity, presence, and focus.

The Current Legislation on Psychedelics in Wyoming

In partnership with a drug discovery company called CaaMTech, the University of Wyoming is conducting new research into how different psychedelic compounds affect addiction. This is exciting because the more research we have, the more lawmakers will be forced to take the healing potential of psychedelics seriously.

Currently, Wyoming is focusing on the legalization of cannabis. Many bills have died in the state legislature, so citizens are trying to get the issue on the ballot for the 2024 election.

As research into psychedelics produces more incontrovertible evidence that these substances are essential to modern healthcare, it’s likely that we’ll begin to see psychedelic reform efforts in the Equality State. Until then, it’s important to seek out like-minded people in your community and form groups to share experiences.

Your Legal Options for Therapeutic Psychedelic Experiences in Wyoming

In Wyoming, you have two options for a therapeutic psychedelic experience: ketamine clinics and guided psychedelic journeys.

It’s important to note that if you do decide to pursue a guided psychedelic journey, you are responsible for sourcing your own medicine. If you have questions or concerns about this process, check out our Resources page for more information.

1. Ketamine Clinics

While not a conventional psychedelic, ketamine has rapid antidepressant effects. It can disconnect the user from their normal mode of consciousness, giving them a new perspective on negative stories and beliefs. Ketamine is also legal for medical use, making it the only psychedelic substance currently available for psychedelic-assisted therapy.

That being said, the quality of therapy offered at clinics can vary. Some, for example, don’t offer it at all. You want to make sure that you receive comprehensive psychological support before and after the experience, so do your research before visiting a clinic.

You can also seek out a psychedelic integration specialist if none of the clinics near you offer adequate support. These folks are therapists, social workers, or energy healers that are experienced with psychedelics and can help you process your journeys. Check out our guide to find the right ketamine clinic near you.

2. Guided Psychedelic Journeys with Psychedelic Passage

No matter where you live in Wyoming, if we can physically get to you, we will sit for you. Our clients typically go through five week long programs. Programs include two virtual preparation sessions, the in-person-ceremony, and two virtual integration sessions. We want you to get the most out of your experience, so we’ll provide you with plenty of resources and practices throughout.

All of our facilitators sit with most psychedelics, including DMT, LSD, and mescaline. Most of our clients choose to journey with psilocybin mushrooms, as they are easiest to access and hardest to fake. Like ketamine, cannabis is not a conventional psychedelic, but if you would like to journey with this medicine, we can sit for that as well.
