Where to Find Psychedelic Therapy in Pueblo, Colorado

While Colorado is known to be a leader of the psychedelic movement, it’s no surprise that psychedelic therapy is trending in Pueblo, Colorado. However, the recent passing of Senate Bill 23-290 has fueled this surge of enthusiasm.

This exciting measure serves as the implementation bill of Proposition 122 and aims to simplify the legal use of naturally occurring psychedelics. Furthermore, it paves the way for the establishment of licensed healing centers, which we can expect to see as early as next year.

While this exciting measure promises greater accessibility of psychedelic therapy, it’s important to note that you don’t have to wait until 2024 to get involved.

In this article, we will explore the benefits of psychedelic therapy and guide you on how to find a psychedelic guide for your transformative journey in Pueblo, Colorado.

Building upon our previous article on psychedelic-assisted therapy in Colorado, we will also go over where you can find a therapeutic psychedelic experience in Pueblo.

But first, let’s go over the current laws surrounding psychedelics in the state of Colorado and how we arrived at this point, along with the rules of gifting psychedelics in Colorado.

Legality and State Laws Pertaining to Psychedelic Therapy in Pueblo

Colorado holds a significant role in shaping the landscape of psychedelic legality today, thanks to its groundbreaking initiatives.

As the first state to legalize the recreational use of cannabis and having the first city decriminalize psilocybin, Colorado remains a role model in the world of psychedelics.

On November 8, 2022, Proposition 122 was passed. This proposition, also known as the Natural Medicine Health Act, decriminalized the personal possession, use, cultivation, and sharing of natural psychedelic substances for those 21 and older.

It’s important to note that Prop 122 doesn’t permit exchanging psilocybin for other items, as this would be classified as selling. However, gifting these substances is allowed.

The naturally occurring psychedelics encompassed by Prop 122 include psilocybin, psilocin, DMT, ibogaine, and mescaline (excluding peyote).

Following this, SB 23-290 was passed on May 2, 2023, which implements and replaces Prop 122. The bill reaffirms Prop 122 while regulating access to natural psychedelics through licensed healing centers.

Overall, it aims to establish a simpler approach to using these substances for medical and personal use. The progressive bill was signed into law on May 23, 2023 and went into effect on July 1, 2023.

Most notably, SB 23-290 allows supervised use of psychedelic mushrooms in licensed facilities for the residents of Colorado. Although we’ll have to wait until the end of 2024 to see these licensed centers, it’s still a major advancement in the psychedelic world.

By 2026, other natural psychedelic substances, such as ibogaine and mescaline, will be permitted for use in these licensed facilities, and the bill will define regulations for the facilitators who oversee these experiences.

In addition, SB 23-290 established the Natural Medicine Advisory Board, which takes responsibility for matters related to natural psychedelics and provides recommendations concerning their use.

The passing of Prop 122 and SB 23-290 offer relief for those previously convicted of drug-related crimes pertaining to personal use and cultivation of psychedelics, as these individuals can now have their records sealed after carrying out their penalties.

Furthermore, SB 23-290 acknowledges the significance of indigenous cultures where these naturally occurring psychedelics originate. The bill protects these communities, their cultures, and traditions to prevent the commercialization of these sacred plants.

Overall, it’s important to keep in mind that while these psychedelics are decriminalized, they remain illegal under federal law, as they are classified as Schedule I substances. Decriminalization means that these substances are of the lowest priority of law enforcement.

Gifting Psychedelics in Colorado

As we already know, SB 23-290 permits the gifting of psychedelics, but let’s go into the specifics of what gifting really entails.

According to SB 23-290, sharing natural medicine for personal use is decriminalized as long as there is no remuneration, or payment, involved and provided that it’s not part of any business transaction.

Additionally, sharing natural medicine with bona fide harm reduction or support services is also decriminalized, where remuneration is exchanged for these genuine services.

So, what does this mean for Psychedelic Passage? As in other states, our network of facilitators are not allowed to provide or gift you with the psychedelic substance. However, they are permitted to gift you the natural medicine as part of the ceremonial program in Colorado.

Regardless of whether your guide gifts you with the psychedelic or not, your ceremonial program will cost the same, as you’re paying for the service and not the psychedelic substance itself.

The Benefits of Psychedelic Therapy

With these exciting new laws surrounding psychedelic therapy coming to light, it’s important that you completely understand what psychedelic therapy is and the array of benefits it offers before embarking on your transformative healing journey.

While various types of therapy exist, such as talk therapy, they all share the main goal of fostering positive change in an individual’s life.

Psychedelic therapy can be facilitated by a psychedelic therapist, a licensed mental health professional who integrates psychedelics into their practice and possess certification or licenses to work with these substances.

However, even without a psychedelic therapist, you can still experience psychedelic therapy through the guidance of psychedelic guides and facilitators. The main difference between these professionals lies in their background and expertise with psychedelics.

Although psychedelic therapy won’t be readily available in Colorado until late 2024, you can still access this transformative experience with the assistance of a psychedelic guide or even embark on the journey by yourself, if you choose.

Now that we have a good understanding of what psychedelic therapy is, let’s explore the many benefits that psychedelic therapy offers.

First and foremost, psychedelic therapy has been shown to be effective in treating mental health disorders, such as depression and anxiety. It’s particularly useful for those who have hard-to-treat depression and anxiety.

Psychedelics work by rewiring the brain and promoting neuroplasticity, which means new neural connections can be formed and existing neural connections can be restructured, closely resembling antidepressant effects.

Additionally, psychedelics have shown promise in treating trauma in individuals with PTSD, reducing brain activity in those with OCD, and positively shifting perspectives on body image for those with eating disorders.

Contrary to their classification as a Schedule I drug, which implies a high potential for addiction and abuse, psychedelics have been found to effectively treat addiction and substance use disorders by expanding the mind, leading to transformative behavioral changes.

Beyond treating health conditions, psychedelic therapy can enhance mindfulness, allowing you to be more emotionally aware of yourself and others by helping you focus on the present and not get stuck on negative feelings of the past.

Psychedelics have also been known to boost work performance by enhancing creativity and generating new ideas that you may have never considered before.

Furthermore, the use of psychedelics can also improve your intimate relationships by producing feelings of empathy and promoting new ways of thinking, enabling people to completely understand the impact of their actions.

For couples, experiencing psychedelic therapy together can strengthen their bond, as the vulnerable nature of the psychedelic experience allows complete emotional openness and the building of trust.

How to Access Legal Psychedelic Guidance in Pueblo 2023

Although SB 23-290 promises access to licensed healing centers, they won’t be available until 2024. However, there’s no need to wait for this experience in Pueblo. Two options available to you now include ketamine clinics and guided psychedelic journeys with Psychedelic Passage.

1. Ketamine Clinics

Ketamine has a diverse history, having served as an anesthetic, a party drug, and now a treatment for mental health disorders. Today, it’s the only FDA-approved psychedelic-like drug that produces hallucinogenic effects.

Ketamine is mainly used in the treatment of depression, PTSD, and suicidal ideation. Acting as a dissociative anesthetic, ketamine allows individuals to detach from themselves, offering a fresh perspective on their troubles.

This new outlook can lead to a deeper understanding of the challenges at hand and finding solutions that never would have been thought of before. Better yet, ketamine is a fast-acting drug, providing almost instantaneous benefits.

While ketamine therapy is life-changing for some, it may not be readily accessible for everyone. Ketamine therapy includes multiple ketamine infusion sessions, requiring you to travel to the clinic, as this type of therapy cannot be conducted in your home.

Each ketamine session can cost thousands of dollars, also contributing to accessibility challenges. Therefore, it’s important to thoroughly explore your options when finding a ketamine clinic near you, as well as consider the pros and cons of ketamine therapy.
